In 1982, fresh from school, I fell into bookkeeping and accountancy by mistake!

As a seasoned bookkeeper I undertook the accountancy AAT course in 1991, the rest is history.

In 1998, my former partner and I, incorporated a company specifically aimed at providing services for the contractor/freelancer industry, one man band companies which, to this day, is still my mainstay, core client base.

Over the years, HMRC introduced legislation that was intended to disband this niche sector.  To keep my company afloat, I diversified my business to service multiple disciplines, be them self-employed trades people and a range of limited companies, all local businesses.

During the 1990’s, I was prolific in writing tax articles (pre blogging days) for contractor and freelance websites which resulted in me working for three of the lead accountants, in London, for this industry.

Their stance was that ‘one solution fits all’.

That is not true.  I did, and still do, work with small businesses, be they limited comapanies or self-employed, every client is unique with differing needs and circumstances.

Sage Accounting Limited was incorporated in 2015 with the intention of providing a bespoke, personal accounting service, not a one stop shop.

Fees are fixed, advice is included with the intention of providing a solution that empowers the client to be in control of their business and compliant with legislation.
